... a typical example of Colaiuda’s skill to represent a complicated problem in a synthesis. What is frustration ? Is the regret for the incapability of our world to understand us, to understand our skills, our needs, or, sometimes, is the regret for our impossibility to express the best of us. Colaiuda had represented this concepts by a nude woman with her arms between her legs and the long hairs that covers her face. Arms are a sort of symbol of our active skills, by them we do almost everything. By representing them falling the sculptor gave the sensation of the lack of all this. Of the enthusiasm to exist, to do, to express ourself. He choosen a traditional way to represent frustration. The traditional idea in which man I the symbol of dinamis and woman is static. Something that could rise the anger of someone but that remembers to us the most risk of who is static to get in frustration. The long hairs that hides the face of the woman means the lost of identity that is compressed, sacrified, hidden. In Lupa capitolina we still watch Colaiuda’s synthesis: as a wolf-mother, she expresses protection, that here is represented by the pose of the mother-wolf which “contains” her twin sons, defending them from the world. The high quality of Colaiuda is his skill to reduce in a strong synthesis, absolutely original, his ideas about the universe, by his sculptures, that speaks by their silence.
